What we do in material engineering or material science is to identify potential and novel materials that can replace the mainstream materials used in for example electronic devices. The job I do includes “grow” these materials (mainly semiconductors in my projects) and investigate their structural, electrical and chemical properties. If I am not satisfied with their properties, I will change some parameters in the growth until they show the optimum properties that are suitable for real-world applications.
